Haven

Our Programs

Essential Stability

We meet immediate needs with dignity, providing nutritious meals, clean clothing, and safe, secure lodging. By maintaining a high-barrier environment, we ensure our shelter remains a peaceful space focused on recovery and growth.

Career & Workforce Development

Stability is built on self-sufficiency. Our residents participate in job-readiness training, resume building, and interview preparation. We don’t just help you find a job; we help you build a career.

Educational Advancement

We believe in the power of education to break the cycle of poverty. Dawn’s Haven actively partners with local institutions to assist women in enrolling in college courses, pursuing certifications, and obtaining degrees.

Transportation & Logistics

A lack of transit shouldn't be a barrier to success. We provide coordinated transportation for job interviews, work shifts, and classes to ensure our residents can show up for their futures.

A Culture of Accountability

Dawn’s Haven is a "high-barrier" shelter. This means we prioritize a drug- and alcohol-free environment with clear community standards. Our residents are women who are committed to a structured program, active goal-setting, and full participation in our community's growth. This model allows us to maintain the highest level of safety and success for everyone under our roof.

We put heart in our community and we love what we do. Every new person is an opportunity to grow.

FAQ

Who does Dawn’s Haven serve?

We are a women-only shelter dedicated to helping single women and mothers who are ready to take active steps toward independence. To ensure the safety and success of our community, we focus on serving those who are committed to a structured, goal-oriented program.

What does "High-Barrier" mean?

"High-barrier" means we have specific entry requirements designed to maintain a safe, drug-free, and stable environment. Unlike emergency drop-in centers, Dawn’s Haven is a program-based shelter. Residents are expected to follow community rules, remain sober, and participate in case management.

Can I bring my children and pets?

Yes. We believe in keeping families together. Dawn’s Haven welcomes children and well-behaved companion pets. We provide specialized support to ensure that both your children and your pets are safe and cared for while you focus on your transition to independence.

What are the requirements to stay at Dawn’s Haven?

To be eligible, applicants must identify as female, be able to pass a drug and alcohol screening upon entry, and commit to remaining substance-free. Residents must also agree to participate in our career, education, or life-skills programs.

How do you help with college or job training?

Every resident works with a Case Manager to create a "Path to Success" plan. We provide on-site workshops, transportation to local campuses or job sites, and assistance with college applications and FAFSA paperwork.
